Obituary for Glen Smith

Glen  Smith
Glen David Smith, 75, of Carthage, began his new life in Heaven on Friday, April 27, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family. Glen was born on January 5, 1943, a son of Finley and Marie (Wyatt) Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. Glen was raised in Carthage and graduated from Carthage High School in 1961. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965, and shortly after married his wife, Jessica Kline, on June 6, 1970. Glen was a dedicated farmer who truly enjoyed caring for his farm animals and nature. He loved his family, singing, gardening, flowers, and playing guitar. He enjoyed car shows, poker, and fishing with his buddies. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 48 years, Jessica (Kline) Smith; two children, Joshua David Smith of Greenfield and Erin (husband: Jesse) Vore of Greentown; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Benjamin David, and Judah; five siblings, Shirley Lukens of Knightstown, Sonny Smith of Carthage, Jack(wife: Shirley) Smith of Tennessee, Jon (wife: Virginia) Smith of Texas, Kathy (husband: Terry) Gibson of Carthage and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call from 5 – 8 pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Heritage Funeral Care in
Knightstown. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jesse Vore officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery with military honors conducted by contingents from the United States Air Force and the American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Henry Henley Public Library in
Carthage.
